Obituary

Christine Dolores Behrens, 79, of Avondale, AZ died January 30, 2017 in Goodyear, AZ. She was born January 6, 1938 in Hoboken, NJ to Francis Baselice and Angela Mongiello. Christine spent most of her working life in the insurance industry. She received the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (C.P.C.U.) and was recognized as an associate in risk management by The Insurance Institute of America. Residing in New Jersey, she owned an insurance brokerage and upscale Italian restaurant with her late husband Lawrence. They moved to California in the late seventies where she held numerous top executive positions with international insurance companies until her retirement in 2011 when she moved to Arizona.

In her social time she loved the theater, was an invaluable member of the Soroptimist organization, gave her time to the suicide prevention hotline and managed to find time to enjoy her love of dancing and music. Christine had a very creative eye and loved working on interior and exterior design in her families’ homes. She made biscotti for family and friends that was the best ever. She is already being missed by her family and friends.

Christine is survived by her partner, Roger Whincup; daughter, Stacey Armstrong; son, Larry Behrens; sisters, Irene Metzner and Gen Martino; brother, Manny Baselice; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Seth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence G. Behrens, Sr. Condolences for the family may be left at www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.

    Dearest Big Sister Chris.

Love and miss you, remember the days and times we spent together like taking me to Kindergarten @ Robert Fulton School, you in your Teddy Bear coat and Hat with braids, my first teen dance, times at your house in Wayne, the pool, parties, singing and dancing at LAWRENCE Restaurant.
Chris LOVE and MISS you. I know you will always be in my heart and I will always remember the good times and how you were there for me in the hard times of my life, and this is the hardest time having to say good by till we meet again and sing and dance once more, on heavens floor.
Rest in the arms of the ANGELS. GOD BLESS my big sister Chris (Tinker)

    LOVE Irene

Your heart of gold and your smile… oh that smile, it lit up a room brighter than any star could!!! You are a Class Act Aunt Chris. I know when I look up at the stars in the heavenly sky, I will see you shining there the Brightest Star of them all!
    I Will Always Love You!

  4. You were the first working woman I had ever met. Some of my best memories were times spent with your family. Each and every time I hear Shirley Bassey I think of you.Watching you and Uncle Manny dancing. Spending summers on Lake Berryessa and driving home in the blue Ford LTD listening to Prince and Mr. B’s Village people music. I will remember your kindness and confidence and appreciation of good music.I will think of you with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes.I know I will see you again when I am called home.Thank you for being such a role model for me in life.

    Love,
    Brynn
