Obituary

Jerry M Swain, 78, of Goodyear Arizona passed away on August 15, 2015, born August 25, 1936 in Walla Walla Washington. Jerry was a retired test Pilot at Boeing in Renton, Washington. Jerry is preceded in death, by his loving wife Janice 2002 of 46 years, and Brother Lloyd 2015. Jerry started school in Boise Idaho then moved to Richland, Washington after his Dad, he went to work for a different department store. Jerry was confirmed and baptized in the Central United Protestant Church. He graduated from public school and attended college at Washington State in Pullman. Jerry married his High School Sweetheart while in college. After college, he went to work for General Electric Co test Engineering Department in the aircraft Nuclear Propulsion program. He left and joined the Air Force and went to pilot training in Texas. Jerry flew Air Refueling aircraft and got some combat time in Vietnam. He left active duty in 1966 and went to work for Boeing commercial airplanes. He checked out as a Pilot in all the Boeing airplanes (707, 720, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, AWACS, T-43, and various military aircraft.) He flew training, Engineering, Ferry and delivery flights and accrued 10,845 hours of flight time. Jerry then retired from Air Force reserves as Lieutenant Colonel. During his Air Force years he was able to pick up two more degrees one in engineering and an MBA in Finance. He enjoyed hunting, singing in the choir and spending time with his 4 Children Deb, Dave, Donna and Dan. He also is survived by his 9 Grandchildren, Chrissa, Teresa, Melissa, Alex, LaRayne, Renae, Robert, Jessie, Callie and Jordan. Jerry also had 12 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Linda. Services will be on September 1st at 10am at Pebble creek ballroom Goodyear Arizona and a service on September 21st 11am at the Aspen Chapel on the grounds of Mountain View Cemetery at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW Lakewood Washington.
