Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Marie Drake, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021, due to COPD and COVID-19.  After earning her B.S., Psychology, Arizona State, she married a lifelong friend, Sammy Drake.  They moved to Litchfield Park, AZ to be near her daughter, Jerryl Duncan, who loved and cared for her following the death of Sandy’s husband, Sammy, in 2020.  She and Jerryl shared an unbreakable bond of love and devotion.  Sandy cherished the time spent with her daughter Jerryl and visiting her daughter, Lizzy, and grandbabies in Texas.  She was adored by her family.

Sandy enjoyed loving people!  Her hands were constantly busy cooking and baking for others.  She had a servant heart known for her excellent teaching at a former church in Prescott Valley where she and Sammy attended.  Many called her “Pastor Sandy”.   She especially enjoyed the comfort and encouragement of her Bible Study Fellowship class.  In the last 5 months, she spoke often of new discoveries from the book of Genesis and was excited to share and teach!

Sandy not only had a big heart for people, but she also adored her fur babies, Samson and Gracie, who brought her tremendous joy and comfort.

She was beloved by all who knew her.

Sandra is survived by her daughters Jerryl Kay Duncan (Jeff), Elizabeth Ann Rutherford (Graham), and Natalie Jones (Norm), Her Stepsons, Dron Drake (Carol), and Mark Drake, her sisters Elaine Migliaccio and Belinda Tigert, her brothers Tommy Tigert and Donald Tigert. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Melvin and Mozella Tigert, husbands Tommy Morris, Jon Jones, and Sammy Drake, Son Brian Thomas Morris, brother Johnny Tigert, and sister Bernell Beagles. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Sandy’s honor to The Americas Freedom Paws Rescue or Bible Study Fellowship class 1458.

Isaiah 40:31 …but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  1. My friend, Sandy, will be greatly missed by everyone she touched her on earth. She always had a hug and a smile for me.
Sandy’s love for Jesus was the first thing you saw when she talked to you and was a true light shining in this dark world.
What a great loss for us but a HUGE Hallelujah for Sandy (reuniting with Sam & walking hand in hand with Jesus).
As for the rest of us, keep lookin’ up. Jesus is coming.
    Until we meet again, Sandy.
