Sam and I had a great time working together in “Special Projects”. Sam was always there to provide insight and leadership, and I learned a great deal of valuable knowledge from him. Sam immediately gave me the nickname “Mumbles” and always called me that from then on, even years later when we would run into each other. I’m getting a little choked up thinking about a lot of great memories and your friendship. Thanks Sam.

I worked with Sam in both SIB Narcotics and in Special Projects…..He was my training officer in Narcotics….Took me on my first “buy”….The guy asked him if he wanted to buy some weed….Sam said no and then pointed at me and said “But he does”…..Damn good police officer and great undercover cop…..Thank you for your guidance Sam and Rest in Peace buddy….

I am sorry for this late post, I just found out of Sam’s passing. We worked together in Special Projects. He was one of the best; unflappable under stress. His slow “good ole boy” delivery was genuine and let you know from the start to be on your “A” game around him. He helped to build the Unit. He was a central part of making it work. If it didn’t exist he brought it into existence. Amazing.

My condolences too the family. You can be proud of his service to the the citizens of the City of Phoenix.
