Obituary
Ruben Salas Cabrera, age 67 of Buckeye, AZ died December 27, 2019 in Buckeye, AZ. He was born May 18, 1952 in Phoenix, AZ to Ylario Cabrera and Esther Salas. He grew up in Avondale, AZ and attended Agua Fria High School. He worked for Atlas Van Lines for over 40 years.
Ruben was a cowboy! He was a sharp dresser, always wearing his cowboy hat and boots, even with his shorts while doing yard work. He enjoyed listening to country/western music and especially loved watching cowboy movies on TV. He was even an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan, often betting his sons-in-law on the outcome of the games. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and boxing.
Ruben loved his family dearly. A fighter, he never wanted anyone to worry about him. His children and grandchildren were his world. His every thought was for their comfort. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Cabrera; daughters, Angelica Cabrera, Martha Cabrera, and Dolores Valenzuela; sons, Ruben Cabrera, Jr.; Albert Cabrera, and Joe Valenzuela; mother, Esther S. Cabrera; brothers, Rogelio, Frank, and Martin Cabrera; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Ylario Cabrera and his first wife, Mickie.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm with a rosary at 2:00 pm and a funeral service at 2:30 pm, Friday, January 3, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Condolences for the family may be left below.

My sincere condolences to my God Sisters and Brothers, Mrs. Debbie Cabrera and extended family. May the Lord give you strength and wrap his loving arms around y’all during this time. I always remember him with those boots and hat 🙂 he was a good man and I was blessed to have known him. Heaven just gained an Angel and he will forever live in our hearts and memories. Big hugs.
