Rosareta Phillips

Obituary

Rosareta Phillips passed away on August 26, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona.  She was born May 18, 1943 in New Mexico.  She is the daughter of Amadeo and Ursulita Duran.

Rosareta was one of 4 children. She was the only girl.  She was spoiled by her big brothers.  They loved her dearly. They all lived out of state and when they came in to town to visit her, she was very, very happy.

Rosareta was married to James Phillips for 57years. She had 4 children, Jerry, Linda, Sandra and Barry.  Sadly, she lost her two boys, Jerry and Barry.  She absolutely loved being a mother. Being a mother and grandmother was her full-time job. She gave that role 100%. She was the most loving, patient and caring mother.  She was always there for us day or night. Another role that she was the best at was being a grandmother. She adored all of her grand-kids and great grand-kids. They brought such joy and happiness to her.

Rosareta along with her husband James, took on three of their grandchildren, Jared, Ryan and Kyle and raised them from birth. They never hesitated taking on this role and would not have changed anything. It was not easy because they weren’t young adults but they never complained and took it one day at a time.

Rosareta is survived by her two daughters, Linda Martinez and Sandra Arvizu.  Her two son-in-laws, Joey Martinez and Arthur Arvizu, 8 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids. She is predeceased by her husband, James Phillips, her two sons, Jerry Phillips and Barry Phillips and her grandson, Joseph Martinez.

Rosareta is in Paradise now with all of her loved ones and is no longer in pain with her medical conditions. We will miss her dearly every second of every day.

  1. My heart goes out to Linda and Sandra, all the grandkids and great grandkids. She was such an amazing lady. I will always remember her as I did when Linda and I were in Jr. high. She was so sweet but was tough enough to keep James and the kids in line. lol. I will always remember her beautiful smile. May she Rest In Peace.

My dear sweet sister in law, from the first day we met we became friends. We talked about everything, that’s when you told me you were married to James on January 4th and I said “that’s my birthday” Rosie said “and I have a daughter named Sandra” I said “don’t tell me Sandra Gail and she said yes” I said my sisters name is Linda and she said my other daughters name is Linda, we laughed and laughed. I will never forget you Rosie, it breaks my heart I will never see you again here on earth. I love you, see you in paradise and hug Joe and Gil for me. Sandy Duran
