Obituary
Robert Benjamin Boyum, age 82 of Avondale, Arizona passed away peacefully on December 7, 2020. He was born on October 10, 1938 to Bennie and Mildred Boyum in Rushford, Minnesota.
Robert grew up on the family farm in Peterson, Minnesota where he graduated from Peterson High School. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the Army and later the reserves. After completing his time in the Military he returned to the family farm where he worked with his brother Richard. He married Betty Gueltzow in June of 1966. In 1979, Robert moved to Rushford, where he continued some work on the farm as well as factory work in Rushford. In 2005 he relocated to Avondale, Arizona to spend time with his daughter.
Robert mostly enjoyed a quiet life spending time with family and friends. While in Arizona he enjoyed weekend getaways throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada. He loved caring for the three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bentley, Bosley and Bella. Robert also loved attending and watching sporting events of all kinds. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves, the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns.
He loved the Arizona weather, going for walks in the neighborhood and being outside doing yardwork. He also enjoyed shopping and fine dining, Robert loved a great filet mignon.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Lisa Boyum, his sister Lucille Sharrow, and his brother, Roger Boyum. He is preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Mildred Boyum, his wife, Betty Boyum, his brother, Richard Boyum and his sister Doris Fox.
Services are private at this time.

Lots of memories of summer visits on the farm and having the chance to be surrounded by so many Boyums, including my Uncle Bob. He had a fun smile that made me wonder what kind of mischief he might be thinking about! Thinking of you, Lisa as you grieve and adjust to living without your dad.

The love and attention of a kind and entertaining uncle makes childhood sweet. The blessing of that relationship remains precious as the years go by even though many miles may lie in between. I remember how easy it was to make my Uncle Bob smile, not the big kind, but that subtle off to one side of his mouth sort of smile. He listened to what I had to say and I could see love in his eyes. He was always ready with a good story or the local news update. When he was driving, he knew just the right speed to make the tickle roads on Highway 30 send my stomach in a loop dee doop. I am so grateful he was not only my uncle, but also my friend. Lisa, I’m so sorry for your great loss, but so happy that you were with him until the end.

Many fond memories of uncle Robert, 1 inparticular comes to mind when we took the farm pickup on the back 40 & it was my introduction to “doughnuts” before seatbelts, holding onto the dashboard & looking over at Robert having more fun than I.
(Can only imagine he was wearing that hunting hat)
