Obituary

Ray Price Larson of Buckeye, AZ, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2019, at the age of 87 while surrounded by his family. Ray will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet Busby Larson, and his four children Steven Ray Larson of Buckeye, Maryanne Jordan (Norman) of Flower Mound, TX, Jane Winegar (Wallis) of Park City, UT, and Nancy Cooper (Todd) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his brother Gene Robert (Joyce), and many other dear relatives and friends.

Ray was the youngest of 5 children born to Tilford and Mary (Price) Larson in Solomonville, AZ on February 16, 1932. He had a childhood full of happiness and adventure on the family farm. He was an engineering student at the University of Arizona when he met his sweetheart, and the two were married on April 7, 1955, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.   Ray always told his children how much he loved their mother and how lucky he was to have her.

Ray loved his family unconditionally and found his greatest joy in spending time with them. This love was reciprocated by all of his posterity. Beyond the love for his family, he was also a great example of readily showing compassion and helping those less fortunate.   Another highlight in Ray’s life was watching University of Arizona sports. He was a die-hard fan and for many decades rarely missed a game.

One of Ray’s most remarkable traits was his keen intelligence which constantly amazed his family and those who knew him. In addition to his 25 years as a Mechanical Engineer at Garrett AiResearch, he had an entrepreneurial spirit and worked side by side with his wife having success in many varied endeavors.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing at 10:00 and funeral service at 11:00 on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 22487 W. Sundance Parkway, Buckeye, AZ with the internment and luncheon to follow.

My heartfelt condolences go out to your family. Someone so special can never be forgotten. It has been an honor to serve you.

  2. Uncle Ray was always so nice to me as I joined many of the family vacations with my cousin Steve. He had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed hearing him laugh. Staying with the family in the Salt River bed house was always fun as Ray had trucks, motorcycles, tractors, horses for Steve and me to play with. He loved his Family dearly.

  4. I really loved my uncle Ray. There were many fun summers at their house when we traded kids. The times at the cabin were also fun with him and my dad. He will be missed.

I always loved Uncle Ray because he was so much fun!! He would always tease me and I loved his laugh. I loved going to Newport with Uncle Ray and his family and going to the Salt River house that made me think that I was a good horsewomen (they always gave me a horse that was nice to me). I am glad for eternal families and that I can hear that laugh again someday.
