Obituary

Philip Ray Nees, age 49 of Litchfield Park, AZ died December 15, 2019, in Avondale, AZ. He was born June 24, 1970, in Champaign, IL to Kenneth and Charlotte Nees. His family moved frequently, and as a result, he lived in Oklahoma, Chicago, IL, and Forsyth, IL. He graduated from Warrensburg High School and attended Western Illinois University. His first job was shoeing Arabian horses. He took pride in what he learned in this job and would willingly share what he knew about Arabian horses if you spoke with him long enough.

Philip lived a large life. A hard-working professional, he embodied the phrase, “work hard, play hard.” He was a perfectionist and a problem solver who believed any problem could be solved. He owned a Harley Davidson dealership in Illinois and came to visit Arizona. The family fell in love with the weather and traveled back and forth between Arizona and Illinois for many years before finally settling in Arizona. Once in Arizona Philip followed a dream and began a trucking company, “Nees’ Transport.” He enjoyed golf and played like no one else! Since failure was never an option, he practiced until he became a good golfer.

Philip’s life encompassed everyone. Outgoing and friendly, he never met a stranger. A handshake was never as good as a bear hug. He included his children in everything that he did and gave them as much as he could. He is survived by his wife, Sherry R. Nees; sons, Austin and Coty Nees; brother, Michael Nees; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Nees and mother Charlotte Nees. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 3, 2020, at Estrella Golf Course. Condolences for the family may be left below.
