Obituary
Maria E. Melendez, age 76, of Avondale, Arizona passed away on June 25, 2020 in Avondale, Arizona. She was born on August 18, 1943 to Fidel Aguilar and Jesusita Ramierez in Torreon, Mexico.
Maria was “the worlds greatest cook!” the owner of Nena’s Kitchen, an Evangelist, and a giver. She was a tough woman of faith and the world’s greatest mom. Her tamales like the rest of her cooking were the best, she will be remembered as a selfless and humble role model, the #1 wife and #1 abuela, a teacher and counselor when needed. Maria was always welcoming and had a positive attitude.
Maria loved her spouse; Salvador Meledez, her daughters; Angelica Barajas, and Susana Salinas, her sons; Salvador, Sergio, Javier, and Hector Melendez, her sisters; Silvia Barraza, and Teresa Gil, and her brothers; Angel Miguel Aguilar and Ricardo Llanes. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 9:00AM on Thursday July 2, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 South Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear, Arizona. The funeral service is to follow the visitation at 10:00AM. Masks/ face-coverings will be required to enter the services.

Gracias Hna María Elena por su amor y gracia hacia mi y mi familia- Gracias por siempre animarme y admirar mi familia-Gracias por ayudarme a vencer y derrumbar barreras en mi vida que no me dejaban disfrutar de mi vida..gracias por esos tiempos que invirtió en mi para la gloria de Dios, se que hoy se regocija en su presencia coronada de victoria por todas esas inversiones que usted llevó a cabo aquí en la tierra..

Mi hermana María Elena siempre estará en nuestros pensamientos y por siempre en nuestros corazones.
Yo siempre la recordaré con esa sonrisa, ella siempre tenía una palabra de amor, de consejo, de animo y siempre te hacía saber que ella estaba ahí orando porti.
Dios la usó mucho en mi vida espiritual y creo que en muchas otras personas también.
Hoy doy Gracias a Dios que ella ahora está con Dios descansando por la eternidad.
Y en honor a ella yo seguiré orando por todos sus hijos (as) y familiares.

Hector and I are sending our condolences to uncle Salvador, our cousins: Salvador Jr, Javier, Sergio, Angelica and Susie and their children. Nena will be missed but fondly remembered. May she rest in the arms of our Lord. This is not a goodbye to her, hasta pronto.
