Lawrence Russell Rohr

Obituary

The beloved Lawrence Russell Rohr, age 68, resided his last several years in Buckeye, Arizona. Born May 27th, 1953, “Russ” was the son of a military father beginning his life on Eglin Air Force Base, where his love for airplanes was also born. At the ripe old age of 16 he received his private pilot’s license and a year later received Jesus as his Captain, becoming a man of faith all the way into his final decent, or we should say, ascent into the loving arms of His Lord and Savior on July 6th 2021.
Making several moves throughout his childhood from Florida to Hawaii to Texas, Russ later started his own family and settled down most of his adult years in the Corn Fields of Richland, Michigan.
Russ met his wife of 44 years, Patricia Joy (Whiting) at Moody Bible Institute, proposing in the Institute’s Chicago tunnel only six weeks into their newly found love. Russ and Patty Rohr brought three girls into the world with many grandchildren to follow…Christine, with her basketball team of 5 boys; Kaidin, Kyler, Tracen, Ryder, and Cruze Martinson…Carrie (Kyle) Strong, with their quiver of Elijah, James, and Hannah Mae…and last but certainly not least, Kellie (Mark) Slager, with their tribe of Alana, Barrett, Cole, and Dexter.  He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Wood (OK), Joan Fredrichsen (TX), and Susan Dickey(TX).  He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Rohr, mother, Mildred Rohr, and brother, Reginald Walker.
Russ was a loving husband, father, friend, and leader in the church. He initiated and hosted several Bible studies and made it his passion to lead others to the heart of the Heavenly Father. This included a one-year missions’ trip to Moscow, Russia in 1995. Because of this trip, a passion for missions both locally and abroad was born in the hearts of his daughters who later followed suit.
The last 2 years of his life proved Lawrence Russell Rohr to be a man of valor and a testimony of Christianity at its finest. Miraculously, Russ survived and overcame five strokes and a close call with Fungal Meningitis. He wasn’t done fighting the good fight. With the sixth stroke and many, many “I love you’s” and “I appreciate you’s” Russ finally said, “I am done.” He will be missed by many but those who put their trust and faith in the same Lord that Lawrence revered, will be able to see this godly man again someday soon.
His Memorial will take place in Richland, Michigan at Radiant Church at 9:00am July 15th 2021. There will also be a celebration of his life held in Buckeye at a future date for all those who were close to him in the desert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CCV church – Verrado, Buckeye AZ, Salt church, Weddell, AZ or Radiant church of Richland, MI.

Russ was a wonderful Brother in Law. I will miss him greatly. He graciously opened his home for my family when we went to Michigan for holidays, vacations , and family prayer meetings.

  2. Condolences to Patti and the Rohr family, I’m going to miss my Brother in the Lord, we were blessed to share time together in Bible Study and in the Pickleball Courts, Patti and Russ, I Love You Both ♥️

  3. We were blessed to know Russ and Patty and found such sweet friendship with them in their short stint in central Indiana. Russ was a strong man of God, loving father and husband, a doting grandfather, and a faithful friend. We join in celebrating his life and grieve his home going, but not as those who have no HOPE!

  4. Russ had a wonderful, kind spirit and definitely reflected the light of Jesus to every one he encountered. He will be missed.

  5. Susan VanDam says:
