Obituary
Karen Curtis, 79, of Avondale, AZ passed away on Jan 6, 2022. She was born in Berkeley, CA to Harriet and Don Keene.
Karen is survived by her two daughters, Heather Anderson (Lance) and Lindsey Curtis, her three grandchildren, Tatum, Leah and Carter, and her two sisters, Marsha and Lori Keene. As an educator for over forty years in both California and Arizona, Karen was a respected and passionate advocate for students and teachers ending her career as a national distinguished principal in the Litchfield Elementary School District. She was fiercely loyal to friends and family, compassionate to those she knew well and to those she had just met, and deeply optimistic even in difficult times. She will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have been in her presence.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on January 20th at The Refinery Christian Church. (16721 W Indian School Rd Goodyear AZ 85395)

Mrs. Curtis, my favorite person, teacher, Principal. Working with Karen was so safe, and our mission was always about the well-being of the whole child. Such a brilliant woman with a quick and hilarious – dry – wit! She really and truly is my very favorite, and I will miss knowing she is on this Earth. See you on the other side.
