Obituary

Judy Lynn Zuccala, age 75 of Goodyear, AZ died February 4, 2020 in Goodyear, AZ.  She was born July 8, 1944 and raised on a farm in Akron, IA.  She worked in the airline industry for over 30 years where she had the responsibility of managing the weight and balance of the aircraft.  She was hired by TWA and retired from American Airlines. Her husband, Ken Ridgway also worked for the airlines as a pilot and they retired together to the PebbleCreek community in Arizona.

When Ken passed away not long after retirement, Judy found friendship and a rich social life in her community.  She was a member of Lunch Bunch 2, and met for lunch with the group for 21 years.  She loved to sing (her license plate was NTEMAME) and was a member of the PebbleCreek Singers. She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 20 years and faithfully sang in the choir and enriched the congregation.

Judy liked to sail and met her next husband, Joe through a sailing group.  Together they sailed through the Sea of Cortez, the British Virgin Isles, and from the Winward Islands down to the tip of Granada.

Judy is survived by her husband, Joe Zuccala, her brother Gaynor Klemme, and several step-grandchildren.  Condolences for the family may be left below.

  2. Joe,

Judy was one of the first people I met after moving to Goodyear. Our weekly Women’s Bible Study at your home was a highlight of my week. I fondly recall celebrating an early morning “progressive” breakfast, with all the gals arriving in pajamas, to celebrate Santa Lucia Day. What fun we all had, just sharing time together!

We were all so blessed to have Judy in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers surround you.

Love, Jon, Elaine, Alec & Alyssa Zuccala

  4. Thoughts and prayers are with you Joe. I felt honored that Judy trusted me enough to put her care in my hands. There are just some patients whom a physician does not forget. Judy was one of those. Dr Shildt

  5. Joe, oh my gosh! It’s July 8th, my dear friend Judy’s birthday. I opened Facebook to her profile to wish her a happy birthday and found her obituary. I’m so sorry! Judy stood up for me when I married. Although I didn’t keep close contact we talked or communicated a couple of times each year. My heart is saddened and I pray for your peace.
