Obituary

Joseph Crecencio Rivas of Phoenix, Arizona passed away April 2, 2024 at the age of 41. He was born June 13, 1982 in Phoenix to Joe Rivas, Jr. and Lori Hernandez both of whom survive him. He is also survived by his daughter Serenity Rivas; his siblings Alyssa Doolan, Roxanne Fuchs, Natalie Ann Fritz, Samantha Jo Rivas, Paul-Michael Peters, and Ezekiel Vandever; stepmother Carmen Rivas, stepfather Stephen Peters, maternal grandmother Alicia Hernandez; and paternal grandfather Jose Q. Rivas. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Mary Rivas, maternal grandfather Crecencio Hernandez, and paternal uncle Veto Rivas.

Joseph graduated from Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona in 2000. His proudest accomplishment in his life is his daughter, Serenity. He loved her with his whole being. He had a big heart and also loved all animals. He was an avid foodie, and loved to try new dishes.

Joseph was loved by many and would light up any room he was in. He had the ability to make anyone and everyone laugh. People confided in him. He was easy to talk to and a great listener (which explains why some of his phone calls with various family members would last for hours on end).

His passing has left a hole in our universe, but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace.

A memorial service will be held at 5pm, Friday, April 12 at Thompson Funeral Chapel.
