Obituary

Joe E. Boydston, 67, life-long resident of Avondale, Arizona died July 13, 2022. He was born September 29, 1954 in Phoenix to Donald Boydston and Barbara Forstner.

He is survived by his sons Jacob and Jared; grandchildren Arianna, Jackson, and Juliette; sisters Sue, Linda, June, and Bille; and brother Jim.

Joe served three years in the U.S. Navy as a submariner. His commanding officer encouraged Joe to reenlist, saying he could use more discipline. Joe declined. He unapologetically lived life his way as a free spirit. On the darkest days for family and friends, Joe was there to help, never expecting anything in return. Joe maintained childhood friendships for life and was just plain fun.

Joe’s wishes were for no funeral service.

Rip ol boy. I had the pleasure of getting to know you and have some good times together. Happy that you and Sue liked the fish and chips that Billie and I fixed for ya. You’re already missed in a big way. Wish you could’ve had more birthdays left in ya, for more good times!

  2. Patti Hardy says:

We are cousins but had never met, you contacted me and came to stay with us for 3 weeks the summer of 2020. I am so glad we got to know you Joe, you are a wonderful person, I’m going to miss you alot. Until we meet again, rest in His peace.

  3. Sue Roberts says:

Joe truly was a free spirit with a big heart. At the beginning of the pandemic he made daily shopping trips to several stores buying paper goods and cleaning supplies. He distributed them to people having difficulty getting such items. Joe had a great sense of humor. He was a good dad and terrific grandpa. I miss my brother and look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

  4. Joe was a person who loved life, family and friends. His smile would light up a room and turn anyone’s bad day into a much brighter one by being in his presence.

Joe was a proud graduate of Agua Fria High School class of 1972. He was a former neighbor and childhood friend. Rest in Peace Joe. We celebrate your life and its impact you had on many people who were blessed to have known you over the years. Your loved ones will carry your torch of giving and caring to those that carry your spirit of community and service toward others.

  5. Ruth Burgess says:

Joe was my nephew and, sadly, I was not very close to him. I did follow his progress through life and loved him very much. I know he made his peace with God before he left us, and I’m looking forward to seeing him again in heaven.
