Obituary
Mr. James Sandoval, 68, of Goodyear, Arizona died January 1, 2022. He was born July 7, 1953 in Phoenix, Arizona to John R. Sandoval and Anita M. Sandoval.
Jimmy attended Phoenix Union High School and later Phoenix College where he met his future wife of 48 years, Susan. As a teenager, Jimmy became interested in law enforcement and joined the Phoenix Police Trainee Program and entered into the Police Academy when he was 21. Jimmy served as patrol officer and retired as a detective in 1999. After his career with the Police Department, Jimmy worked for the City of Phoenix in the Neighborhood Services Department and retired again in 2015. A few years into his retirement, Jimmy developed Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and received a double lung transplant in November 2018. Jimmy passed away due to complications from his lung transplant on New Years Day 2022. He had a larger-than-life persona, enjoyed talking to everyone, became a mentor to many, and devoted time to coaching soccer and football. He was always the life of the party.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents John R. and Anita Sandoval. He is survived by his wife, Susan; eight brothers and sisters: Jenny, Peter, David, Sam, Beji, Diane, Johnny Ray, and Michael; his son, Matt; daughter, Tina; grandsons, Mathew and Eric; and granddaughter Meadow.
A visitation will be held at 1PM on January 18, 2022 with the funeral service beginning at 2pm.

Jimmy had a spirit everyone loved being around. More than that, the love and counsel anyone received from him was straight from God above. He truly obeyed God’s word with actions not just words. I love and miss already.
