Obituary
Douglas Peter Pratt, age 39 of Buckeye, AZ died October 29, 2019, in Buckeye, AZ. He was born January 3, 1980, in Wichita Falls, TX, one of five children born to Allen and Deborah Pratt. The family moved to Great Falls, MT when Doug was six and he became completely immersed in all the outdoor activities that Montana provides. Hunting in the mountains, canoeing, and kayaking in the Missouri River, and playing in the snow in Glacier National Park were his favorite pastimes. He was a good student and graduated from Great Falls High School.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Doug served a mission in Taipei, Taiwan where he became fluent in the Mandarin language. Upon returning from his mission he enlisted in the US Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a linguist in military intelligence, a classification that required him to be deployed in undisclosed locations. After discharge, Doug began working in security at the Palo Verde nuclear power plant.
Doug was very artistic. An avid pyrographer, he was passionate about sharing his woodburning techniques with others. His creativity spilled over into his cooking where he enjoyed making decadent desserts such as his famous chocolate tsunami cake, filled with every type of chocolate. He took pleasure in celebrating the holidays, watching fireworks, decorating for Halloween, and making Christmas magical for children. He was a favorite uncle of his nieces and nephews. When he visited his family he would often fill pantries and freezers with food, bring new toys for the children, and assist in any way that was needed. He loved his family fiercely and cherished his children deeply.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Nathalie Ward, Emma Ward, Janna Ward, and Katelyn Deborah Pratt; son, Daniel Thomas Pratt; parents, Allen and Deborah Pratt; sisters, Mary Emmett and Rachael Cowling; and brothers, Jacob and Eric Pratt.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Doug was my partner on the job the past year and over the years he was at PV we spent hours standing posts together. To his family and close friends I want to express my thoughts, and I can only pray for a better tomorrow for his children.
