Obituary

David Farrell Williams, 47, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2019, in Glendale, AZ. He was born December 16, 1971, in Upland, CA to Douglas Farrell and Ronda Thorup Williams. In 1990 he graduated from Ashland High School where he was a running back on the state championship football team. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission in Brasilia, Brasil. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Accounting in April 1998. While attending BYU he met Heather Hutchings and they were married in the Manti, UT Temple on April 25, 1998.

A CPA like his father, David worked as an accountant for Arthur Andersen and Wells Fargo before joining the FBI as a special agent in 2003. FBI assignments took David and his family to Seattle, Phoenix, Washington D.C. and Brasil, where for five years they were immersed in the culture he loved. David was a member of the Phoenix SWAT team for several years.

David knew how to make everything fun and had a way of making ordinary activities become treasured traditions. Tender-hearted and considerate, David noticed the needs of those around him. He knew the right thing to say and remembered the smallest details. David was passionate about life. He loved music and made countless playlists from his extensive collection. He played old-time fiddle, guitar, and piano. David traveled the world, immersing himself in the culture of each country he visited. He enjoyed attending plays and concerts and saved each playbill. He was an avid BYU Cougar fan and never missed a game. David cherished time biking, hiking, swimming and playing sports with his family whom he deeply loved. His acts of devotion and daily messages will be greatly missed.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Annabel Williams and Levi and Florence Thorup. He is survived by his wife, Heather; their children, Henry, Jack, and Mia; parents, Doug and Ronda Williams; brothers, Mike (April), Dale (Patricia), Joe (Reiko), Tom, and Jaxon (Dalia); and sister Becca (Jerry).  He is also survived by loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, 9 nieces, 16 nephews, 1 grandniece, and 1 grandnephew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 am – 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, November 22, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Glendale North Stake Center, 4901 W. Union Hills Drive, Glendale, AZ 85308, with Bishop Richard Saunders presiding. Burial will follow at Phoenix Memorial Park.
