Obituary

Christine Dolores Behrens, 79, of Avondale, AZ died January 30, 2017 in Goodyear, AZ. She was born January 6, 1938 in Hoboken, NJ to Francis Baselice and Angela Mongiello. Christine spent most of her working life in the insurance industry. She received the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (C.P.C.U.) and was recognized as an associate in risk management by The Insurance Institute of America. Residing in New Jersey, she owned an insurance brokerage and upscale Italian restaurant with her late husband Lawrence. They moved to California in the late seventies where she held numerous top executive positions with international insurance companies until her retirement in 2011 when she moved to Arizona.

In her social time she loved the theater, was an invaluable member of the Soroptimist organization, gave her time to the suicide prevention hotline and managed to find time to enjoy her love of dancing and music. Christine had a very creative eye and loved working on interior and exterior design in her families’ homes. She made biscotti for family and friends that was the best ever. She is already being missed by her family and friends.

Christine is survived by her partner, Roger Whincup; daughter, Stacey Armstrong; son, Larry Behrens; sisters, Irene Metzner and Gen Martino; brother, Manny Baselice; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Seth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence G. Behrens, Sr. Condolences for the family may be left at www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.

  1. To Larry & Stacey,

I just came across this by chance – not sure why; but I am so sorry to read about your Mom’s passing back in 2017. I am not sure if you will ever see this, but I am Norma (Morcrette) Ostrowski. I worked for your Mom and Dad in Saddle Brook for many years and was there for both your births. I often think about you all.. for some reason we lost contact. Mom and Dad started me in the insurance industry and I must tell you I still work in an agency 3 days a week. it keeps me going. I read all this testimonials and recognize so many of your family and Mom’s friends. I knew Dad had previously passed. I lost my husband and son, Brian in 2021. I know the feeling of grief. The picture of your Mom is beautiful. That’s just how I remember her. She was a role model for me and I have not worked for anyone so bright as her in all these years. She gave me good training.

    Sincerely, Norma
