Obituary

In Loving Memory:

Carole Garman Escajeda, beloved by all who knew her, passed away on April 9^th 2024 at the age of 87 in Surprise Arizona in an unforeseen car accident. Born on September 19^th 1936 to Earl Garman and Elsie Ambers Garman, she grew up in Cedar Heights of Conshohocken and graduate from Conshohocken High School on 1954. Carole was active in many clubs and sports while in high school and maintained lifelong friendships with several of her classmates. With her infectious energy and vibrant personality, she was the life of every party, lighting up the room with her laughter and enthusiasm.

Throughout her life, Carole cherished her family and friends, always ready to lend a listening ear or share a witty joke. She married Arthur Walker, Jr (deceased 2001) and they settled in Norristown, PA. They had three children, Beverly White (Ed) of East Norriton, PA, Arthur Walker III (deceased 2018), and Christopher Walker (Christine) of El Dorado Hills, CA. She was the proud “Granny” to eight grandchildren: Kelly White, Holly Pettine, Tara Fitch, Edward White, Jr, Colleen Blackmore, Ethan Walker, and Emma Walker. She was the beloved “Gigi” to 14 great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She was an ever-present fixture in their lives and never missed an important life event.

Carole began her career at GE Aerospace in King of Prussia in 1976, her first day of work coinciding with the birth of her first grandchild. She rose to the position of Head of Technical Publications, having transferred to their Sunnyvale California Office. She retired after 21 years. While at GE, she met her second husband, Luis Escajeda (deceased 2022) whom she married in 1983. She became the loving stepmother to his three daughters, Yvonne Fox of San Jose, CA, Annette Koziol of Brunswick, Maine, and Karina Escajeda of Kents Hill, Maine and “Granny Carole” to his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Following her retirement in 1997, Lou and Carole moved to Goodyear Arizona where she was an active member of the Pebble Creek Community. She golfed regularly as a member of the Par Tee Dolls and was a member of the Tri-T Chapter Q. She played Mahjong weekly and enjoyed participating in PCLGA, theatrical productions, softball, and book club among various other activities.

She loved entertaining, decorating her beautiful and show-ready home and could be found enjoying a glass of red wine and laughing with her many friends. She had an invincible spirit and believed in living life to the fullest, encouraging others to pursue their dreams. She always found the good in everyone and above all cherished her family most.

Carole was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and never missed a game. She donned her favorite Eagles attire for game day and cheered on her beloved “Iggles.” She loved to dance, and her playlist included all genres of music from gospel to rap. Those who had the pleasure of spending time with Carole will forget neither her infectious laugh nor her tremendous sneezes. We are heartbroken at her tragic and sudden passing.

She is survived by her sister Teresa Romano and sister-in-law Jeannine Romano, of Conshohocken. She was predeceased by her sister Anne Bryan of DelRay Beach, FL and brother, Joseph Romano, of Conshohocken. She is survived by three nieces and five nephews.

Carole’s legacy of love, acceptance, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of sharing in her zest for life. May she rest in peace, knowing that her spirit will continue to bring happiness to those she touched.

Graveside services and burial will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, 39 Bonnie Brae Rd, Spring City, PA. The family requests donations in her memory to the local Humane Society, an organization to which she was a regular donor.
