Obituary

Aneita Moten Cook, born Aneita Remell Moten has gone to be with the Lord April 21st, 2023. Aneita was born on June 12th, 1964, to Herbert and Rubye Moten in Ventura, CA. She grew up as the second youngest in her family of 6. During young adulthood, she graduated from California State University- Eastbay with a degree in Sociology where she pledged the sorority Sigma Gamma Ro. Within her life she dedicated herself to various leadership positions, like being a court appointed special advocate for almost a decade. Aneita also worked for the County of Ventura for 20 years before retiring. While she worked for the county, she led the office morale and recognition group called Our Gang (Oxnard Ultimate Recognition) for four years. In 2020 Aneita moved to Goodyear, AZ where she would serve as a Department of Child Services Investigator until her passing.

As the matriarch of our family, she led with positivity and light. Aneita was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and a devoted Christian. Because of her faith in Christ, we know where we will find her since she has left this earth.

She is preceded in death by her mother Rubye Moten, father Herbert Moten, and Sister Karen Moten. She is survived by her husband Tony Cook, daughter Danielle DeBose, and stepson Xavier Cook. She will also be missed by her brother Herbert Moten, her sister Urissa Moten, her niece Joi Moten-Ragland, nephew Marlon Moten-Taylor, nephew Aaron Moten-Cain, as well as her great nieces and nephews.

Aneita, you are so loved, and missed. Rest easy.

Services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, located at 926 S Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ on May 6th, 2023, at 5pm.

    My heart aches because you are gone. I will miss our monthly phone calls. I am so grateful to God that we became friends in high school. We had many good times.
