Obituary

Alexus Dawn Scott, age 15 of Peoria, AZ died February 25, 2019 in Peoria, AZ.  She was born April 22, 2003 in Newburgh, IN to Darlene and Christopher Scott.  With a burst of energy and an ever-present smile, Alexus could fill the room with her enthusiasm.  Her passion for life was infectious, and she was eager to share it with others as she would greet them with a hug.  She loved to talk, her words tumbling out, demanding attention from those in her presence.  She loved to sing.  She was a member of choir at school and sang in many competitions as well as in videos that she would post online.  Like most girls her age, she loved music.  Her favorite band was Panic at the Disco.

Alexus loved being outdoors, biking, swimming and hiking.  Having recently moved to Arizona, she enjoyed the warmth and beauty of the state.  She often went hiking with her Poppy and Grammy, exploring the local trails.  She enjoyed traveling  and especially liked Disney World, Mexico, and the Grand Canyon.

Alexus was known as “Little Momma” to her family.  From the moment her younger brother was born she looked out for him.  She took her family responsibilities seriously, starting dinner every night at 5:00 so that it would be ready when her mother arrived home from work at 6:00.  She loved watching Hawaii Five-O with her father.  She was close to her cousins and loved to talk with them.  Her love for her family was evident in all that she did and in her frequent response, “Love you more!”

Alexus is survived by her parents, Christopher and Darlene Scott; brother, Zachary Scott; grandparents, Henry and Vicky Pruitt; Thomas and Yvonne Slaton, Chuck Spencer, Darrell Scott; and Great-Grandma, Ann McDonald.  She was preceded in death by her Papa Tom; Marvin Caudill; and Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Pruitt.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am, Friday, March 1, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ  85338.  The funeral cortege will follow in procession to Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, 85351.

I’m so sorry to hear of Lexi’s passing. I will always remember her bright smiling face and how she was such a good friend to my daughter Kristin back when we lived in El Paso TX. She will be missed enormously.
Darlene, Chris, and Zach, as well as the rest of Lexi’s extended family, my love and my prayers are going out to you. I wish I could do more to ease the heartache you all are feeling.

Please accept my sincerest condolences on your heartbreaking loss. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult a time this must be for you. I hope that you are able to find a measure of comfort in the promise made by our Creator that he is “close to the brokenhearted and He saves those crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). The comfort he provides through his Holy Spirit, his words and those around you can help you to cope with feelings of grief. He further promises that many will be reunited with dead loved ones in the future on a paradise earth (John 5:28,29; Psalm 37:29). I hope that you are able to hold on to His words and experience the comfort He gives (Psalm 34:8).

This still doesn’t seem possible, I keep trying to wake myself up from this nightmare. Lexi was one of the most loving sisters to her brother and nicest to my kids like they were blood. You ate going to be missed more then you could ever imagine.
