Obituary

Joseph W. Betts, age 75 of Sun City, AZ died March 19, 2019 in Sun City, AZ. He was born August 31, 1943 in Chicago, IL to Vincent and Isabella (Schafer) Betts. He served in the US Army achieving the rank of Specialist spcor-4. Joe was a proud owner of a 2011 Corvette ZR-1 and Vice President of Fast Glass Corvette Club. He was a member of Local Union 150 Operating Engineers for 45 years. He was a lifelong friend, loving grandfather, and a diehard Chicago Bears fan.

Joe is survived by his sons, Robert (Ruthie) Betts, and Michael (Kelly) Betts; brother Jim (Joanne) Betts; five grandchildren, Molly and Mikey Betts, and Blake, Caden, and Mason Betts; and his two constant companions, his cats, Harley and Janie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Bartello) Betts, and his parents, Vincent Betts and Isabella (Schafer) Betts.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Burial will be at St Michael The Archangel Cemetery, 1185 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL. The family suggests that donations be made to Fur Keeps Animal Rescue, Barrington Hill, IL.
