Obituary

Robert J. “Bob” Bishop passed away on August 19, 2016, after a brief illness.

Bob was born on January 9, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a lifelong fan of both Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football.

Bob attended both Pasadena City College and California State University Long Beach and was a dedicated member of the football teams at both schools. Anyone who played sports with Bob knew him as a loyal, dedicated and committed team player. Bob’s positive attitude, both then and in his later years, always resulted in the betterment of those around him.

Upon receiving his degree, he was employed at the Veteran’s Administration Healthcare Facility in Long Beach, where he invested his lifelong working career in assisting in the rehabilitation of injured and otherwise afflicted veterans. Bob always sought to make a positive change in the lives of those committed to his care.

Bob spent his post-retirement years in Phoenix, Arizona, investing in real estate and pursuing his many other interests, including assisting his sister through some difficult times.

To those fortunate enough to have known Bob, he was a wonderful, giving man who devoted such a large portion of his life to serving those people needful of his attention. He is, and will continue to be, sorely missed.
