Obituary

Mr. Roger L. Jones, 77, of Tonopah, Arizona died on December 10, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born February 10, 1944 in Salem, Indiana to John Jones and Marjorie Jones.

Roger grew up in Salem, Indiana and he graduated from Salem High School. He then enlisted in the US Navy in 1964 for the first time. He then returned home to Indiana in 1968, where he lived until 1977 when he reenlisted in the Navy. He spent the next 20 years in the Navy, then retired in 1997 as Chief Petty Officer, career counselor. No matter if at home or at sea, Roger spent his life caring about his family and his beloved New York Yankees.

Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. A truly amazing person all the way around. Leaving behind memories of an incredible smile, contagious laugh, and unforgettable memories. He had an intelligence and wisdom, that would be hard to match. Even things he did not understand himself, although stubborn, he was still open, understanding, and accepting. Roger leaves behind a lot of lives touched, and will be missed by them all.

He is survived by his wife, Geraline Jones, daughters, Sheryl Walsh, Teresa Berry, Lynn Satsat, and Lynette Jones, daughter-in-law, Meredith Jones, son, Kenneth Jones, son-in-law, David Ariniello, sisters, Audrey Callon, Shirley Smego, and Brenda Landreth, grandchildren, Jeffrey Walsh, Jennifer Walsh, Dylan Berry, Cole Berry, Kieran Santos, Amanda Bilbrey, Sedrick Santos, Rhiannon Jones, Tristan Santos, and Sunshine Jones, and great-grandchildren, Jaxson Walsh, Jensyn Walsh, Amereth Jones, and Juliet Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, John Jones, mother, Marjorie Jones, sister, Delores Conner, and son, William Jones.

A visitation will be held at 8:00am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd. Goodyear, Arizona 85338. The graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
