Obituary

Mrs. Karin Gail Phelps-Leal of Goodyear, Arizona died August 27, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 57. She was born February 4, 1965 in Pontiac, Michigan to Charles and Beatrice Phelps.

Karin grew up in Lapeer, Michigan. She graduated from Lapeer East High School in 1983. N 1985, she married Gary Robert Leal in San Jose, California. Karin was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and won that fight. Sadly, the cancer returned and spread fast.

Karin will be missed by many, but especially her fur babies who were her entire life besides family. She will be forever missed, as she was the glue that held us together. But we know she is with us in spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Leal; children, Courtney Leal-Smush, Robert Leal, and Jacob Leal; siblings, Tamara Phelps Mosher, Annette (Marc) Phelps-Loree, and Charles (Patti) Phelps, Jr.; and her parents Charles Phelps and Beatrice Phelps. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Megan Smush, Liam Smush, Alese Leal, and Colt Leal.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Leal; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Olson; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phelps; uncles, Paul Olson, Charles, Finnley, and Dave; aunts, Lucy and Mickey, and cousin Jean.
