Obituary

Herminia Campa Cruz, age 83, of Tolleson, AZ died October 27, 2018 in Goodyear, AZ.  She was born, the oldest of 14 children,  April 29, 1935 in Phoenix, AZ to Anastacio and Victoria Campa.  Herminia was raised to manage a home.  She instinctively knew how to take whatever the family had and stretch it to make it plentiful.  She loved to sew and made her own clothing.  She was a gardener and grew beautiful roses.  She not only raised her five children, but all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.  She would often pose with her children and grandchildren in silly photos.

Herminia was the family historian and could tell marvelous stories.  She organized photo albums that memorialized her family in word and image.  She loved her husband of 48 years, Arthur and they were always together.  They would often go for long rides together and travel throughout Arizona.  She loved to go camping and would take her family to the White Mountains.  After Arthur died, yearly family trips to Disneyland became her favorite destination.  She and her children would spend a wonderful week together, laughing and enjoying all of the fun that Disney offers.  Everyone will miss her warm hugs.

Herminia was a very spiritual woman.  She frequently prayed and believed in a loving God.  She would always say goodbye with the same phrase, “God be with you.”

Herminia is survived by her daughters, Myra Chavez, Lisa Cruz, Eloise Lucero, Jessica Cruz; son, Art Cruz; sisters, Jennie Rogers, Della Montaño, Rachael Acedo, Dian Rogers, Barbara Navarro, and Rosie Campa; brothers, Pete, Fred, Ben, Edward, and Joseph Campa; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Anastacio and Victoria Campa; husband, Arthur G. Cruz, sister, Mary Jimenez; and brother, George Campa.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm, Monday, November 5, 2018, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 918 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338.  A funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 539 LaPasada Blvd, Goodyear, AZ 85338.  Interment will follow at 11:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, AZ 85392.
