Obituary

Francisca Magdalena Plasencio, 79, of Tolleson, Arizona passed peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022, surrounded by many who loved and cared for her throughout the years.  Family and friends visiting shared pleasant memories and stories bringing a warm brightness around her during her final hours at home.

Francisca was born in El Paso, Texas on Monday, October 4, 1943, to Ms. Josefina Jacques and raised with her grandparents, Lorenza and Jose Plasencio.

Francisca, also known as “Nena” in El Paso, and “Frances” in Arizona, began each morning drinking a hot cup of instant coffee, reading the newspaper, or watching TV as she enjoyed eating her “chu-che-rias.”

She also enjoyed cooking for family, playing cards, spending long nights laughing and sharing stories while drinking a baby beer or two, or three…and last, but not least, snuggling with her beloved Maltipoochon, Dingo.

Francisca worked as a seamstress/machine operator from an early age and retired proudly at the age of 76 from Serta Simmons Bedding, where she shared many special moments throughout the years with her work family who loved her dearly.

Also known for her elegance, Francisca never left home without her lipstick, long colorful nails, and always matching from head to toe with her Skretchers (not a typo), or her sneakers with a sheckmark (again, not a typo J.)   Coworkers shared how impressed they were with her skill and ability to work as a machine operator with “those beautiful nails.”  Pushing buttons on the casino machines with “fresh” nails was one of her favorite pastimes, especially when she won, very lucky lady!!!

Francisca is survived by five children, Jose Sam Plasencio, Edna Gomez-Green, Enrique “Henry” Gomez III, Raymundo Gomez, and Laurie Ann Plasencio, for whom she always reserved a special place in her heart.

She is also survived by daughter-in-law Yvonne, wife to Sam Plasencio; Jessie, husband to Edna Gomez-Green; Irene, wife to Henry Gomez; and Monica, wife to Raymundo Gomez.

Known as Nana and Nana-Nana, Francisca is blessed with 20+ grandchildren, Sam: Sam, Steven, Jojo, Yvette, Mario, and Marie; Edna: Michael, Valerie, MickeyNicole, Anthony, Jessielee, Cole, Mia, BJ and Frank; Henry: Eric, Marissa, and Cynthia, Oscar, and Daisy; Ray: Blake, Dominic, Alex, Damien, and Emi Rae; and Laurie: Eric and Brian.  Great-grandchildren including Benson, Rae, Isla, Sandi, Juliette, Zoe, Gabe, Dallas, Angela, Junior, Ricky, Barrett, Jaxson, Olivia, and many, many more.

From your children, “Mom, we love you and you will be missed dearly.” And now from us to you,

“QUE DIOS LA BENDIGA”
