Obituary

Edward Ashby Hunter, Sr, age 83 of Avondale, AZ died June 24, 2019. He was born September 4, 1935 in New York City, NY to Melvin and Mary (Hill) Hunter. Edward served in the US Air Force, from 1955 – 1981, retiring after 26 years of active duty with the rank of Sr. Master Sergeant. He was married to Jacqueline Hunter for 42 years before she passed away on September 13, 1997. He married Pauline Hunter on January 16, 1999 and they celebrated 20 years of marriage this year. Deeply religious, Edward was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the Association of Marian Helpers.

Edward is survived by his wife, Pauline Hunter; daughters, Tamara Hawthorne, Terrence Hawthorne, and Kirsten Benford; sons, Edward Hunter, Jr., Rodney Hunter, Reginald Hunter, and Trevor Hardeman; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Jacqueline Hunter; and his daughter, Adrienne Hunter.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a rosary at 10:30 am, with mass at 11:00 am, July 3, 2019 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 539 E. LaPasada Blvd, Goodyear, AZ.   Burial with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, AZ.
