Obituary

Desirae LeeAnn Lockard, 3, died on September 5, 2021, surrounded by family, love, and hope.  After a ten-month battle against terminal brain cancer, her passing at Ryan House was quiet and peaceful.

Desi was born December 11, 2017, and though her life was short, it was well-lived.  She captured the hearts of all who met her with her vibrant spirit, adorable voice, and big, big hugs.  She delighted in all things pink and sparkly, loved to sing and dance, and adored spending time with family and friends.

Desi broke the mold.  Her interests included unicorns and construction equipment, princess dresses and pirates, sword-fighting and teddy bear diapering.  She was markedly compassionate, determined, silly, bright, and so very loving.  Desi had a laugh that could brighten any room, a smile that could warm any heart.  Her joy was contagious, affecting all who were blessed to know her.

She never let cancer slow her down.  And now, she is dancing with Jesus, cancer-free.

Desi is survived by her parents, Christopher and Elizabeth Lockard; her older brother, Alexander Lockard; her paternal grandparents, Enalo and Evelyn Lockard; and her maternal grandparents, Timothy and Cheryl Hoenig.

A Celebration of Desi’s Life will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Estrella Mountain Church.

I knew Desi through my daughter and she spoke so highly of you, precocious, sweet and so full of life. You got your wings too early sweet baby, God needed you back. I wish I had known you, fly high sweet baby.
