Obituary

Charles Wyman Scott Jr. was born October 31, 1974 in Phoenix, AZ to Elaine Perkins and Charles Scott. Charles was raised in Phoenix by his mother Elaine and his Stepfather Flenoy Williams Jr. and graduated from Thomas J. Pappas high school in 1993. He served in the United States Army from 1993-1994 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.

In 2003, he married Lara (Browning) Scott at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Phoenix, where they remained active members in the general church and the marriage ministry until 2017. Charles and Lara gave birth to twins in 2008, Ashton William Scott (died from preterm birth) and Aaliyah Raine Scott.

Charles enjoyed being with his family, playing dominoes, grilling, cooking, baking, date night with Lara, hanging out with his friends and watching both basketball and football. He was a lifetime, dedicated fan of the Arizona Cardinals.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother (Elaine Williams), both fathers (Charles Scott and Flenoy Williams Jr.) his son (Ashton) and several other family members who are truly missed.

He leaves behind his wife of 20 years Lara, and their daughter Aaliyah, sister Devona McCray (Eugene), their children (Ashley and Kaleb), sister Shanice Scott and her children (De-Vante, Cedric and Ziair), sisters Tawana Marshall, Nyla Williams, brothers Darryl and Brian Williams, and Grandmother Joyce Henry, all of Phoenix. In addition, his God children, many family members and a host of friends who love and miss him.

    I am so sorry to learn of your loss of Charles. I met him briefly when Lara and he filmed the preemie video for SWHD. His warmth, love and sense of caring were palpable both in person and onscreen. My deepest sympathies and prayers for each of you as you cope with his loss.
