Obituary

Mr. Amelanio Diaz Sr., 67, of Goodyear, Arizona died November 28, 2021. He was born October 22, 1954 in Arecibo, Pueto Rico to Tomas Diaz and Maria Alcazar. He was predeceased by his father, two brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife Daisy Diaz; son Amelanio Diaz Jr.; daughter Celinnette Diaz; Mother Maria Alcazar, five sisters, and one brother. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Ethan Diaz, Noah Diaz, Isaiah Diaz, Kyle Hammontree, Emily Diaz, and Elijah Diaz.

Amelanio was always happy and inviting to anybody who entered his life. He drove a school bus for over half his life, where his warmth impacted so many lives. He was a handyman of all types; no job was too great or too small. Amelanio had a sweet tooth and always had to have his something sweet. He spent his free time adoring his grandchildren, cheering for the Yankees, and listening to Salsa music. Amelanio loved anything Puerto Rican (especially the food), and was proud of his heritage. He loved his family, and he loved his wife more than his own life. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held at 6pm, with a Funeral Service beginning at 7pm, on December 6th at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear.

  1. To my sister-in-law Daisy Diaz, my niece Celinnette, my nephew Amelanio Diaz Jr. and to all of the grandchildren. My beloved and dear brother Amelanio Diaz Sr. (Nano) is no longer with us, but he will not be forgotten. Nano was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He often served as the peace mediator of our family, with his humble and empathetic disposition. I’ll always remember him for his kind and loving heart, his ability to listen and how he always put the needs of others before his own. Dear Lord, may my beloved Nanito Rest in Eternal Peace. My dear brother, I will miss you every day for the rest of my life and I will never forget you. I love you always. Until we meet again.
