Obituary

Phyllis Jeanette Sommers of Litchfield Park, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2017 at the age of 90.   She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 15, 1926 to the late Albert and Helen Steck. Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother Gordon Steck, husband Jerome Sommers, and long term special love Jack Schwellinger. She was the beloved mother of Donna, Kathy and Susie Sommers and remembered by grandchildren, Cameron and Dawson June and her precious cat, Dickens.

A special thank you to Sandra who for years managed her care above and beyond everyone’s expectations. She also loved her other caregivers – Alecia, Crystal, Renee, Kathy, Elizabeth and Jennifer.

Burial will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and services will be announced at a later date.

    Phil and I wish to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear mother.
    We visited with your mom and Jack during out stay in AZ in 2008 and 2009. She was very gracious. We had a good visit. Phyllis was blessed with a long life. May she rest in eternal peace.

  3. Dear Donna Kathy and Susie, I am your 2nd cousin Laverne , eldest daughter of your Grandfathers brother Andrew. I grew up with your Mom though she was a few years older than me. My husband and I visited with her snd Jack in Arizona.
    She was a wonderful person and we communicated up to a couple of years ago.
    So sorry for your loss. If there is a ceremony in Milwaukee to honor her I know my sisters and I would want to attend.

      It’s really hard without Mom here – but she would smile knowing you sent this
      She is already back in Milwaukee. The funeral is at St Helen’s Church where she went to Catholic grade school. 3307 S 10th St.
      Tuesday 8/15 . A gathering will take place at 9:00 – 10:30. Mass will be at 10:30 with a procession to St Adalberts cemetery. There will be a lunch afterwards at the Packing House on Layton ave.
      I look forward to having you attend and celebrating her life completion at church.

    I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she was able to die peacefully with family around her. I may not be in town for the funeral, but if I am – I will certainly attend and am looking forward to seeing all of you.

      Thank you so much for your reply to Mom’ s obituary. Susie and I were with Mom when she passed late at night on July 1st. We were holding her hand and praying for her transition. All of her caregivers were there as well. She had a lot of love around her when she left us.
      The funeral is at St Helens’ on 10th St on August 15th. The gathering is 9 – 10:30 with a procession to the grave after mass. I’m having a lunch at the Packing House afterwards.

      I moved to Arizona 20 years ago to be close to Mom and have created a wonderful life here.
