Obituary

James Spencer Skelly, age 78 of Elgin, MN died January 15, 2018 in Buckeye, AZ. He was born March 17, 1939 in Rochester, MN to John and Evelyn Skelly. James married Marlene Wittlief and together they raised their five children. He spent much of his time on tours looking for deer and wildlife. He diligently read his newspapers to keep up with current events. He retired from the Teamsters Union after more than 30 years. He worked as a laborer, city worker, and at Dalco Industries. He was an avid gardener who also loved his pets.

James is survived by his wife, Marlene Skelly; daughters, Susan (Kenneth) Bedtka, Cheryl (Steven) Seelbinder; sons, James (Cindy) Skelly, Billy Skelly, Steve (Dawn) Skelly; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers, and one granddaughter. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338.

  1. You will be missed Uncle Jim. I am sorry I didn’t see you more often these last years. I will always remember spending time at your home hanging out with my cousins and at Grandma’s farm at the larger family gatherings. Fun memories. I have pictures in my mind of sitting around on porches, around fires, laughter, and games. There was always something going on that gave us all an opportunity to come together as family.
