Obituary

Born in Queens New York in 1932, Edward A. Lodi was a man known by many titles. He loved his family passionately and was a textbook example of a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great grandpa.  He was a friend to many and will truly be missed by all of us. Ed and Rose Marie were devout Catholics and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, AZ.

His rightful passage into the arms of God was on December 21, 2022, while immersed with the love of his wife Rose Marie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marianne Lodi and his daughter, Kim Pryle. He had three brothers Louis, Tom & John. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rose Marie and children Mark, Janice (Husband Steve), John (Wife Susie), Lisa, and Richard (Wife Kristin), 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He loved his family intensely always enjoying time with them.

He dedicated his life to education and received a Bachelor Degree from Hofstra University, also attended UCLA and obtained his Master’s Degree from UC Berkeley.  He was an accomplished author contributing to 15 books with his business partner, Wade Ellis. He was President of the Northern California Community Consortium, and Dean of Mathematics and Science department at West Valley College. He also was the recipient of the 1994 Hayward Award of the statewide academic Senate of the California Community Colleges, which is an award for lifetime achievement and excellence in education. He worked at Lockheed for 11 years starting in 1955 as a nuclear scientist. He then went on to West Valley College to teach math for 55 years. After he retired, he went back into teaching part time.

Ed loved bowling. At the age of almost 80 he bowled a perfect 300 score! He also played the drums, baseball, and really enjoyed dancing! He had a passion for music, especially jazz.

He had a dry sense of humor, but was always gentle and kind. He was an amazing husband and the best father to his six kids.

You will forever be in our hearts….

Dad I still can’t believe that you have passed I miss you more than words can tell but I promise you I will take care of mom to the best of my ability as will the other siblings ❤️ Playing softball will never be the same without you in the stands but I’m dedicating this season to you! Thank you for being the best dad anyone could ask for and teaching all your children that compassion, generosity and loving one another are the important things in life! I love you to the moon and back and will continue to honor your memory and cherish all the good times we had! Love, Lisa
