Obituary

Richard Alan Myers, age 77, of Goodyear, AZ passed away April 5, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born October 28, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to Bruce and Edna Myers.

While stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Richard met his wife, Alaine. They married on July 1, 1961 and enjoyed a beautiful 54 years together.  Richard and Alaine were wonderful parents of two sons, Steve Myers and Barry Myers, and one daughter Karen Myers.  Richard was a dedicated husband and father who always made sure his family was healthy, happy, and cared for.  Richard was a loving grandfather and enjoyed teaching his grandson, Joshua Myers, how to golf.  They spent many days together watching the jets take off at Luke Air Force Base, swimming, and hanging out together.  Richard was a long time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas and served the community as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul ministry.

Richard is survived by his wife, Alaine; son, Steve Myers; daughter, Karen Myers; brothers, Bob Myers and Jerry Myers; and sister, Eileen Fiore. He has one grandson, Joshua Myers.  He was preceded in death by his son Barry Myers.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Richard’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ 85392.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember him attending Josh’s high school marching band and concert band performances.

    We were very sad to hear of Uncle Dick’s passing- he was an exceptional man. We wish that we could have come to his funeral to comfort and visit with all of you. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Dick was a “monument” at Sperry/Honeywell, and left a very unique legacy that none of us can forget. My condolences to his friends and family.

  4. Uncle Dick was just a great guy. Anyone would have been proud to have him as a Dad. Karen and Steve and Aunt Laney, I am so sorry to hear of his passing and wish all his family and friends the comfort of knowing he was a good man who led a good life.
