Obituary

Judy S. Barmore of Goodyear, AZ died February 25, 2017 at the age of 80. She was born July 11, 1936 in Atlanta, GA to Roy and Florence Shoemaker. Judy was the oldest of three children and with the large difference between each sibling she grew up quickly. She was a very good student and wanted to become a lawyer, however her life took a different course after meeting her husband, Bill Barmore. It wasn’t long until her first daughter Laura was born. About one and half years later her second daughter Josie came along. As they grew up they spent lots of time with their grandparents. Judy’s father Roy was an entrepreneur and thus she spent lots of time working at the Peach Bowl Speedway and at her father’s used car lot. Her daughters would help as much as they could. As the girls got older, Judy and Bill decided to move to Roy’s farm. He trained horses, so it was a lot of fun to move to the country.

Judy enjoyed needlepoint, prolific reading – mostly history, travel, bowling, watching Bill O’Reilly, and family gatherings. She loved antiques! A few years after Bill passed away she decided to get a part-time job with the IRS, which became a full-time job. She retired from the IRS in 1996. She received many awards, but for those who knew her, she was much too shy to brag.

Judy was a hard worker, always willing to help others while never expecting anything in return. Because she was so shy, people misinterpreted her as not being as sharp, but she just smiled politely. Judy had a strong will and a fighting spirit and a huge heart. She will be missed by her daughters every day, but they know she is finally at peace and in a better place with their daddy.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Laura Fellhoelter and Josie Barmore, and her sister Frances Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Barmore. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Hacienda Del Rey, 12917 W. Las Cruces Drive, Litchfield Park, AZ.
