Obituary

Mr. John Alvin Shurbet, age 79 of Peoria, AZ died August 29, 2016. He was born October 9, 1936 in Phoenix, AZ to Wayne and Lucille Shurbet. John served in the US Army for 10 years reaching the rank of Lieutenant. Later in life he served as a Boy Scoutmaster. He loved golf, fishing, camping and working with his hands. He created many pieces of woodwork. John served faithfully in his church and spent 16 years on service missions.

John is survived by his wife, Helen Faye Shurbet; daughters, Jodee Shumway and Kari Layton; sons, Allen, Dion, and Eric Shurbet, Kent, Eric and Keith Sailsbery; sister, Lee Hererra; 54 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lucille Shurbet and brother Wayne Cleon (Sonny) Shurbet.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 am with a funeral service at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7871 W Acoma Drive, Peoria, AZ. Interment will follow at West Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ.
