Obituary

James William Groff, 79, of Goodyear, AZ passed away at home on January 4, 2015 surrounded by his family.  He was born December 13, 1935 in French Lick, Indiana to Loren and Esther Groff.  Jim, as he was known, served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1976 as an Aircraft Mechanic.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and after his service in the Air Force, he worked 21 years as a manager of plant engineering for Thunderbird Samaritan Hospital.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and vacationing with family and friends.  His greatest joy in life was the love shared with his family.  Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline (Pat) Groff ; daughters Terry Saldate (spouse, Freddie), Diane Romo (partner, Ximena Gonzales), and Shelia Perry (spouse, Todd).  He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being with his grandkids and would spend hours rocking them in his favorite chair.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Starpointe Residents Club, 17665 W. Elliot Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338.  In honor of Jim Groff, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.

  1. The Heavens have added a new angel. I will miss his happy smile and great hugs. I know he is with Bub and they are having a great time. My Mom is teaching him all the card games she knows. My love to all of you.

    Sorry to read about Jim.
    He outlived his brother Robert Franklin (Jack) by quite a few years.
    He will be remembered by the rest of his family in Indiana and elsewhere.
