Obituary

Willie Lofton, III was born July 3, 1946, in Tunica, MS to the late Mary and Willie, Jr. He was the youngest of three siblings. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
Willie graduated from Dunbar High School in Chicago, IL. He retired in July 2006 after completing 17 years of service with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago. He lived in Chicago most of his life and later moved with his family to Phoenix, AZ in 2003.
Willie was united in holy matrimony to Maurice Wright on December 27, 2002.
Willie had a passion for traveling. Most people are unaware that he was an avid swimmer. He was an excellent handyman; there was nothing he could not fix or repair. He was also a consummate grill master, making the best ribs you ever ate.
He was a passionate gamesman and played many card games but was known for Bid Whist. All of his girls as he called them, Bid Whist players who felt he was their “brother from another mother” and they loved him dearly.
Willie will always be remembered as a kind, warm, generous, sincere, and loving person.
He leaves to cherish fond memories of life, his beloved wife Maurice, and their daughters Tiffany and Tamika. Plus, his loving grandson Justin, whom he helped raise from birth.
His brother, Tommy McKinnie preceded him in death. He is survived by one sister, Wendy Spencer, four daughters, Latoya Varnado (Kenneth) Latasha Foster (Benjamin Sr), Tanzenika Bingham and Meatrice Coleman (Meme). Four sons, Willie Lofton (little Willie), Arturo Lofton, Edward Stokes, and Mark Shorts. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 9am, Saturday December 11 at Thompson Funeral Chapel.
