So sorry for your loss. I am a friend of Walter. We were at St. George in Chicago for grade school. He will be missed by me and the others that I am still friends with that knew him.

    1. Thank you for the kind words Al.

Wally had been ill for some time and about one year ago relocated to the phoenix area to be closer to me and to improve his health.

I feel very lseed the The LORD brought him here and that we had that year together.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, Wally often spoke of his friends from Bridgeport.

      Sincerely,
      Randy Houchen

  3. My name is Richard Augusta. I had the pleasure of working with Walter for a number of years at the concierge desk of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Chicago. We were a very close team of about 6 and truly enjoyed our time with this clever, quick-witted, big hearted young man.

My pet nickname for him was “Walter von Houchenstein,” a nod to his German sounding family name. My favourite memory is the day that he decided to dye his hair platinum blond. He walks into work, management took one look at him, and said “no.” They sent him straight hom e for a violation of our luxury hotel’s strict grooming standards at the time. (I wonder what he would think of the magenta and teal and cherry red colors that I see these days!)

We had many wonderful hours working side by side. Walter was a great concierge, always focused on a supreme level of customer service and always committed to knowing everything about the hotel and the city.

My last knowledge of him was when he had relocated to the South Florida area to establish his own company, providing specialized customer service. I would have suspected that he was very successful there as well.

Walter was truly one of a kind. He will be sorely missed and my heart goes out to his family. We lost a good one!

    1. Richard, thank you so much for the kind words about Wally.

He had been ill for a number of years and reloacte to Arizona about one year ago to be closer to mr and the work on improving his health.

I thank the LORD that we had this past year together and for the wonderful times we shared.

He will live forever in my heart and in my soul.

I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful son.

  4. Missing you my friend. I’m sorry if that is selfish because I know you have found your peace.

    1. Tracie, thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts for my son Wally.

He was truly a remarkable person, and the best son a man could ask for.

He often asked my about Germany and mentioned he was going to plan a trip there with a friend, so he thought of you often.

      Sincerely,
      Randy
