Obituary

Thomas Masao Wierschem, 39, went to be with Our Lord and savior on September 10, 2021.
Thomas was born on May 11, 1982, in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Paradise Valley High School and received a full academic scholarship to ASU where he graduated with a Baccalaureate in Criminal Justice. He joined M.C.S.O. in March 2016 and had risen through the various ranks. Thomas became a Sergeant in April 2013 and Lieutenant in October 2015. He received numerous accommodations throughout his career. His last role with M.C.S.O. was that of an Executive Lieutenant, where he built effective working relationships with local courts, other law enforcement agencies, and all levels of office staff and command.
Thomas “finally found the love of a lifetime” with Deana and they married on October 31, 2016. He enjoyed traveling and spending as much time as he could on various beaches and truly enjoyed sharing his love of guns and bourbon with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Deana Wierschem; son, Luis Lopez; daughter, Laurie Lopez; parents, Charles and Kazumi Wierschem; two sisters, Christina Reisinger (Jeffrey); Angela Ogden (Matthew); one brother, Daniel Wierschem and several nephews, niece, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Masao and Kayono Nabeuchi and Ivan and Martha Wierschem.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Tom’s life in their own way. So, raise a glass of your favorite bourbon in Tom’s memory, as this would be quite appropriate.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 29, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338.

I’m so glad I got to meet you and ride around in your challenger. You were an amazing figure in my life to look up to, and any memory I have with you was a fun memory. You even got to see me grow up a little bit. We all miss you!!

  2. Today is by far going to be one of the hardest days ever.

Thomas was the light at the end of a tunnel always shining bright. He was truly one person you could always count on, not just at work, but outside of work .

Thomas, you’ll be truly missed. Our hearts are knowing that you passed at a young age of 39.

You were the first partner I worked with, one that taught me signs of watch to for around Inmates so that I could always be safe. You were a great mentor to so many people. You made a HUGE impact in so many lives.
Our prayers and condolences go out to all the Wierschem family. We can’t begin to imagine how tough this has been for all you.
