Obituary

Mr. Teófilo Islas Licona was born in Mexico City, Mexico.  He was the oldest son of Natalia Licona Amaro and Severo Islas.  Mr. Islas Licona studied grade school in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico and he returned to Mexico City to study Jr. High and High School.  At the age of 18, 1942, he was drafted by the first Mexican army regiment formed as a result of World War II and completed his year of service with honors.  A few years later, he traveled to the United Sates through the Bracero Program and worked in the construction of the railroads. He returned Mexico, and in January of 1950 he married Inés Calzada Piedras.  Together they had six children (Ramón, Alfredo, Federico, Olga, Susana y Francisco) and lived a life full of challenges and blessings.  In using their talents and in complementing each other in their work, their faith, their dreams, their recreational activities and their quest for happiness, they educated their children and served their relatives, friends and neighbors.  In 1972 Mr. Islas Licona migrated to Phoenix, Arizona with his oldest son and a year later brought his wife and his three youngest children to the United States pursuing the American dream while entrusting his older children to the care of Our Lady of Guadalupe as they continued their education and their lives in Mexico City.  His training and experience allowed Mr. Islas to perform the job of an electrician in the South Mountain School District in Phoenix Arizona.  At the age of 65 he retired and continued using his skills to make significant modifications and enhancements to his home as well as continued offering his children, his relatives and his neighbors his support. Throughout his retirement, Mr. Islas and his wife lived in New River, Arizona, in San José, California, in Beverly Hills, Florida, y finally in Phoenix, Arizona.  May Mr. Islas rest in peace as he is guided by our blessed mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus.  May her prayers for us lead us all, his family and friends, meet at the great celestial banquet of our beloved of God, where la gran fiesta will continue!

Teófilo Islas Licona nació en México Distrito Federal, México.  Fue el hijo mayor de Natalia Licona Amaro y Severo Islas.  El Sr. Islas cursó su primaria en Pachuca, Hidalgo y regresó a la Ciudad de México a estudiar la secundaria y preparatoria.  A los 18 de edad, en 1942, formó parte del primer regimiento del ejército mexicano formado como respuesta a la Segunda Guerra Mundial.  Algunos años después viajó a los Estados Unidos con el programa de braceros y trabajó en la construcción de las vías del ferrocarril.  Regresó a la ciudad de México, y en enero de 1950 se casó con la Srita. Inés Calzada Piedras.  Juntos tuvieron seis hijos (Ramón, Alfredo, Federico, Olga, Susana y Francisco) y vivieron una vida llena de retos, pero significativa en la que sus talentos, sus valores y sus bendiciones les permitieron complementarse uno al otro en su trabajo, su fe, sus sueños, sus actividades de recreo y su búsquda por la felicidad.  En 1972 el Sr. Islas emigró a Phoenix, Arizona con su hijo más grande y un año después trajo a su esposa y a sus tres hijos más chicos a los Estados Unidos siguiendo el sueño americano y confiando a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe a sus hijos más grandes para que continuaran su educación y sus vidas en la Ciudad de México.  Sus conocimientos y experiencia le permitieron al Sr. Islas efectuar el trabajo de electricista en el sistema de escuelas de South Mountain en Phoenix, Arizona.  A los 65 años de edad, se retiró y continuó utilizando sus conocimientos para hacer arreglos significativos a su casa y para ayudar a sus hijos, familiares y vecinos.  Después de su jubilación, el Sr. Islas y su esposa vivieron en New River, Arizona, en San José, California, en Beverly Hills, Florida, y finalmente en Phoenix, Arizona.  Descase en paz, el Sr. Islas.  Pedimos a Dios que él sea recibido por los ángeles y María Santísima al banquete celestial donde esperamos reunirnos todos y gozar de la vida eterna en la presencia del Santísimo.
