Obituary

Shelley “Yaya” Johnson, age 39 of Avondale, AZ died June 22, 2017 in Goodyear, AZ. She was born August 11, 1977 in Phoenix, AZ to Thomas and Ruth Johnson. Yaya worked at Food City on MC 85 for many years. She is survived by her “inherited” daughter, Angelina Smith-Johnson; “inherited” son, Derrick Smith, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Orozco, Renee Sanchez, Kathy Johnson; brothers, Christopher Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Jr., Timothy Johnson, Derrick Smith, Sr.; eight nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruth Johnson and sister, Becky Johnson.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338. The family suggests that donations be made to Thompson Funeral Chapel.
