Obituary

Ms. Shelley Diane Woodland, age 70, was born December 1, 1950 at Mt. Sinai Hospital to Lewis and Helen Taylor in Chicago, Illinois. She made her transition to heaven April 1, 2021 in Goodyear, Arizona.

Shelley was a soft spoken and kind-hearted person who would give you the shirt off her back. She started her walk with Christ at Christ Bible Center (CBC), where she gave her life to the Lord. She married Roosevelt Woodland Jr. and had two beautiful daughters: Helima and Kayla Woodland. Shelley dedicated 20 years to the Roseland Community Hospital, from which she retired.

She is survived by her ex-husband, Roosevelt Woodland Jr., her daughters; Helima and Kayla Woodland, her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Montgomery-King and Robert. She is also survived by a host of extended family and friends. Shelley is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Taylor and her father, Lewis Taylor.

Here is a message to Shelley’s friends and family: “Don’t be sad for me. I am in Heaven with God and family.”

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 12, 2021 beginning at 8:00AM at Thompson Funeral Chapel with burial services to follow the Funeral in precession to Sunwest Cemetery, 12525 NW Grand Ave. in El Mirage, Arizona.

 

Tribute to Mom,

Dear, Mom This is a hard pill to swallow. We know you are in a better place and no longer suffering. Now you can party with all our loved ones in heaven. We thank you for all your love and sacrifices, and we will continue to make you proud. We love and miss you so much, but we know you are smiling down on us, may you rest in peace.

We little knew that morning that God

In life we loved you dearly,

It broke our hearts to lose you,
