Obituary
Ruth Marie Grzenia, age 89 of Buckeye, AZ died November 11, 2019 in Buckeye, AZ. She was born May 26, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Joseph Beitzel and Jennie Swansen. Ruth married Ernest Grzenia at the age of 18 and together they raised 10 children. Ernest’s work took them to Colorado, Florida, and Arizona. After he passed away Ruth moved to Kansas. She had long held a dream of being a career woman so she embraced her independence and enjoyed working at Cold Water Creek and Macy’s. Sadly, Ruth suffered a stroke. Unable to care for herself, she moved to Arizona to be with her daughter and often grieved for her former life.
Ruth passed away on Veteran’s Day, a day that could not have been more appropriate. Her father was a veteran of WWI and eight of her ten children served in the military. She loved her country and was patriotic to her core.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susan Sage, Debbie Mahaffee, Kathy Romano, Ruth Mullinax, Nancy Cook, and Patti Stewart; sons, Michael, Robert, Ernest, and Steve Grezenia; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
