Obituary

Roger Eugene Boston, age 86, passed into eternal peace on January 15, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. Roger was born June 26, 1932 in Parma, Idaho to Earl and Pauline Boston.  The oldest of six children, Roger enlisted in the United States Air Force a few months after graduating from Parma High School.  His Air Force service included assignments in intelligence and as an air defense weapons controller at several duty stations including England, Germany, Japan, and Alaska. He attended Officer Candidate School in 1958 and retired in the rank of Major in 1972 at Luke AFB, Arizona.

Following retirement from the Air Force, Roger completed his bachelor’s degree at Grand Canyon College and later earned a master’s degree from Northern Arizona University. His second career found him teaching 7^th grade social studies in the Washington Elementary School District until his second retirement in 1995.

Roger had a passion for service and helping other others through his leadership.  He served in several key positions for the Boy Scouts at the district and council levels. He was active in DeMolay for many years including service as Executive Officer of DeMolay in Arizona from 1995 to 1999. In his later years he served the Luke Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America and was proud to be a Pioneer resident of La Loma Village in Litchfield Park.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and daughter in-law, Nancy. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcia Ann (Henery) Boston; sons, Mark and Craig; daughter-in-law, Elaine; grandchildren, Matthew, Claire, Liz, and Alec; great-grandsons, Erik and Jaxson; and his siblings, Marian, Betty, Joanne, John and Don.

Services will be held Saturday, January 26^th at 1:00 pm, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 400 S. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s name to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Litchfield Park (www.StPetersAZ.com).
