Obituary

Regina Odachowski Gregorek, 98, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Goodyear, Arizona on August 29, 2020.

Born on September 7, 1921 in the Fells Point neighborhood. She received a Catholic baptism at Saint Stanislaus Kotska Church and remained a supporting member until the church closed its doors. “Gean” as she was called by family and friends, married her husband, James Gregorek, in 1941. Gean worked for Western Electric for 33 years. She and James enjoyed watching sports (Orioles, Ravens, U of MD, and OU.) In their retirement years they were active in the community, particularly with the saving of St. Stan’s from developers. They were part of a small group that Orchestrated the Bingo at Lemko for many years to aid in this cause. They also ran bus trips, proceeds of which were donated to a Polish convent with the mission of aiding blind children. Gean enjoyed crocheting and made beautiful homemade gifts for friends and family. In her final years, Gean spent her days enjoying the company of family and listening to audio books.

Gean will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and selfless devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Gregorek; grandson, Kurt J. Tesch; her parents, Stephanie and Walter Odachowski, Sr.; and 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Adelman (Rodney); granddaughter, Tara Forsburg (Gerald); great-granddaughter, Ashley Withey (Justin); great-grandson S. Mitchell Forsburg; great-great-grandchildren, Judah and Esme Withey; Step-granddaughter Valerie Collier (Tony and sons Aiden, Camden and Weston.)

Services will be held September 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, AZ 85392. The service will be available via livestream. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Arizona Friends of Talking Book Library. They made Gean’s life more pleasurable after she began losing her sight due to macular degeneration. She often listened to one book a day. The Address is 1030 N. 32nd street, Phoenix, Arizona 85008. Or go to www.AZfotb.org.
