Obituary

Patricia Ann Fullmer, age 68, of Box Elder, SD, died September 4, 2019, in Buckeye, AZ. She was born May 1, 1951, in Casa Grande, AZ, the oldest child and only daughter born to Hubert and Mary (Hightower) Mangum. She lived the first 12 years of her life on a farm. She attended school in Buckeye, AZ, a distance that was 50 miles one way from her home.   Though young, she had the responsibility of tending her younger brothers, especially her youngest brother who had cerebral palsy and was bedridden.

At the age of 12, Patricia moved with her family to Avenal, CA. She lived with her aunt for a brief period of time in Oildale, CA then moved with her family to Armona and then to Hanford, CA, where she completed high school. After high school, Patricia moved to Texas where she lived until she learned that she was pregnant. She returned to California where her first child was born. In May of 1972, Patricia met William Fullmer and they began dating. They were married July 15, 1972, in Coalinga, CA. William and Patricia lived in Avenal, CA where they raised five children. The couple was sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Oakland Temple on their 25th wedding anniversary. William knelt in front of the temple and proposed again to Patricia, this time asking her to be his wife for time and all eternity. She gladly accepted his proposal.

Patricia worked as a waitress for over 40 years at Howard Johnson’s, Jay’s, and Red Robin. She also worked for a brief time as a secretary for Darlene Stacy Realty and at Circle K. She never retired, she just quit working. She loved to quilt and produced beautiful quilts that her family cherishes. She and William loved to travel. They purchased a motor home in 2010 and traveled all around the country. They often came to Arizona, but particularly liked the beauty and rolling hills of South Dakota.

Patricia was a great example of a strong woman who deeply loved her husband and children. She is survived by her husband, William Orson Fullmer; daughters, Teresa Walker and Mary Salinas; sons, Michael, Norman, and Dennis Fullmer; brother Dan Ray Mangum; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Mangum; mother and step-father, Mary and Doyle Mosier; and brothers, Terry Dale, Burton, and Donnie Mangum.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 am followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 22487 West Sundance Parkway, Buckeye, AZ 85326. Burial will be at the Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery, 23100 W. Broadway Road, Buckeye, AZ 85326.
