Obituary

Ms. Teresa Herrera, 86, of Avondale, Arizona died September 18, 2021 in Goodyear, Arizona. She was born May 30, 1935 in Nuevo Ideal, Durango, Mexico to Fortunato Herrera-Silva and Aurora Rodriguez-Flores.

Teresa was the fourth of seven siblings. She was a single mother since she was twenty-seven years old and raised her four children, Consuelo, Bertha, Carmen and Tony. Teresa was a woman with a lot of initiative, strong, courageous and a leader in everything she overtook. As a person with strong character, she persevered through many obstacles including the old customs in the towns of Durango, Mexico.  She was a woman with a lot of charisma; she liked to sing, dance, poetry, and getting her whole family together. She was a good host and very good cook and would have been a very good politician.

Teresa was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church since 1992. Over the years she became involved with various groups within the church, the last one being the Legion of Mary. Her faith developed with age. She helped some organizations by sending them her donation month by month. She was always a very generous and pious woman with her gifts. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 30^th at St. William’s Catholic Church in Cashion, AZ. Mass will follow at 11:30am.

La Sra. Teresa Herrera, de 86 años, de Avondale, Arizona, murió el 18 de septiembre de 2021 en Goodyear, Arizona. Nació el 30 de mayo de 1935 en Nuevo Ideal, Durango, México de Fortunato Herrera-Silva y Aurora Rodríguez-Flores.

Teresa era la cuarta de siete hermanos. Fue madre soltera desde los veintisiete años y crió a sus cuatro hijos, Consuelo, Bertha, Carmen y Tony. Teresa fue una mujer con mucha iniciativa, fuerte, valiente y líder en todo lo que superó. Como persona de carácter fuerte, perseveró a través de muchos obstáculos, incluidas las antiguas costumbres en los pueblos de Durango, México. Ella era una mujer con mucho carisma; le gustaba cantar, bailar, poesía y reunir a toda su familia. Fue una buena anfitriona y muy buena cocinera y hubiera podido ser muy buena política.

Teresa era miembro de la Iglesia Católica de San Guillermo desde 1992. A lo largo de los años se involucró con varios grupos dentro de la iglesia, siendo el último la Legión de María. Su fe se desarrolló con la edad. Ayudó a algunas organizaciones enviándoles su donación mes a mes. Siempre fue una mujer muy generosa y piadosa con sus dones. Ella será extrañada por todos los que la conocían.

Se llevará a cabo una Visitación a las 10:00 am el jueves 30 de septiembre en la Iglesia Católica de San Guillermo en Cashion, AZ. Seguida por la Santa Misa a las 11:30 am.
